60-bed shelter providing temporary housing and case management to homeless families and individuals. Volunteers of America Delaware Valley provides community-based assistance to populations in need so that they can lead self-fulfilled, independent lives.

​

Services:  Health, Food, Housing, Education, Work, Youth, Transportation

Shelter residents receive 24-hour staff support and supervision, case management, transportation, child enrichment, life skill workshops, referrals to health insurance and mental health treatment, support with employment and education, and supplemental food, clothing, and household items.

Check the rail schedule for trains offering “one seat ride” services into New York.)

Bus service:

  • Bus #114 provides service along route 22 and 28, from Union Avenue & Tea Street to Bridgewater, Somerville, North Plainfield, Dunellen, Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Mountainside, Springfield, Union, Hillside, and New York Port Authority.

  • Bus #117 provides express service along route 22 (weekdays only) from Route 22 & Mountain Avenue to Somerville, North Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Mountainside, Union, and New York Port Authority.

  • Bus #65 provides limited service from Union Avenue & Tea Street to Bridgewater, Somerville, North Plainfield, Dunellen, Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Mountainside, and Newark Penn Station.

RideWise helps people find transportation options including local buses, ridesharing, walking, and biking routes. They also promote Safe Routes to School, safety education, and Complete Streets policies.

Ryde4Lyfe provides transportation to adults in partnership with Lyft and Uber.

​

Lyft and Uber rides are provided Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.  A credit or debit card and a cell phone (not a smart phone) are required to participate in the program.

Somerset County operates three different public transit bus lines – SCOOT, DASH and CAT. These buses can be used by anyone for work, school, errands, or recreation.

​

SCOOT-R1 and SCOOT-R2 provide bus service from Bound Brook to Bridgewater, Somerville, Manville, and Hillsborough.

 

CAT-1R provides bus service from Bound Brook to Branchburg (RVCC), South Bound Brook, Somerville, Franklin Township/Somerset, and New Brunswick.

​

CAT-2R provides bus service from Bound Brook to Branchburg (RVCC), Somerville, Raritan, and North Plainfield.

​

DASH 851 and DASH 852 provide bus service from Bound Brook to the New Brunswick train station, Bridgewater, and Franklin Township/Somerset.
