$50,000 grant to build a soccer field

T-Mobile announced Bound Brook as one of its latest 25 Hometown Grant recipients. The $50,000 grant will go towards building a soccer field, including sports performance, wellness and nutrition resources, to provide affordable and vital access to sports programs for youth and adults in the community. The field and resources will benefit both Bound Brook and South Bound Brook residents.

“This soccer field will help children in both communities learn the benefits of teamwork, competition, and physical activity, helping them lead healthier lives”, says Tony Cava, President and CEO, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset. “In addition, we will provide off the field education in nutrition, wellness and sports performance with our partner, Players Development Academy (PDA), and the local recreation departments.”

The project was submitted by Somerset Health Care Foundation, an organization that provides funding to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, in partnership with "Building Bridges to Better Health".

Launched in 2021, T-Mobile Hometown Grants is a $25 million, five-year initiative to support the people and organizations who help small towns across America thrive and grow by providing funding to kickstart vital community development projects. Since the program’s start, T-Mobile has given more than $6.8 million dollars to 150 communities across 41 states, including Bound Brook. The initiative has even led to an additional $2 million in matching funds by other local resources, and more than 12,000 in volunteer hours.

The local impact of T-Mobile's Hometown Grants is also underscored by the completion of 62 projects to date, including renovations, restorations and the creation of 12 playgrounds, eight parks, eight community art projects, seven buildings, six sustainability projects, and six new ADA compliant play structures.

T-Mobile awards Hometown Grants each quarter for up to 25 towns with a population of less than 50,000 people. Anyone with a vision for how to make their community even stronger than it is today can apply.
